This peer reviewed study explores the impact of reusable vs disposable sharps containers on Greenhouse Gas. Using a life cycle assessment, global warming potential of a disposable sharps container and a Daniels reusable Sharpsmart container were assessed. Results showed that in converting to the Sharpsmart reusable sharps container, the facility studied achieved an 84% reduction in GHG, (127 metric tons) and 99.9% reduction in the number of plastic sharps containers landfilled.
