What are the containers made of? What happens to the containers at the end of their useful life?

Sharpmart safety engineered sharps containers are manufactured from high-impact Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) polymer. Other typical uses include safety helmets, canoes and golf club heads, due to the high-impact resistance. The ergonomic handle is made of fi breglass-polymer mix, which provides high strength for maximum safety during manual transport. Upon reaching the end of their useful life (approximately 10 years dependant on usage), the containers are then sent to a recycler where they are granulated, pulverised and added back into plastic products.
